This Weeks Learning:
Science:
We are in the process of completing our unit on animal life cycles. As a final project, students are doing independent research with a partner. They are in the process creating a stop motion claymation to show their learning.
This project includes: creating a story board, making props, backgrounds and characters, creating stop motion picture on iPads and adding audio. Stay tuned for the movie debuts.
Literacy:
We have started learning about graphemes. Graphemes are the different sounds letters make. We are using these skills to build our decoding skills for reading and writing.
In Word Work students are learning about long and short vowel sounds and the words that go with them. Students choose different activities like: triple words, backwards words, write with the opposite hand, write a sentence, pyramid words, disappearing words, and writing station.
Students are creating a classroom picture book based on the story, "What Does Peace Feel Like," by Vladimir Radunsky.
We have also read: "A Poppy Is to Remember," "Can You Say Peace," and
Important Information/Dates:
Students will be getting a poppy on Tuesday for our virtual Remembrance Day Ceremony. We will be collecting cash/coin donations on Tuesday to give to the Royal Canadian Legion.
